BRING NEW LIFE TO YOUR OLD JEMBE OR DUNUN DRUM NOW !

The COMPLETE JEMBE OVERHAUL Is priced at $135.00 and includes the work listed below.  I've found that most drums want the complete overhaul the first time I work on them. If less is needed, the price goes down accordingly.  Here's the whole treatment:
  • Recondition the shell -  stabilize and fill cracks, smooth and shape the playing edge
  • Treat wood inside and outside with linseed and coconut oils.
  • Replace 2 top rings, (and the bottom ring if necessary), and wrap rings with new cloth
  • Replace the "cradle knot" ropes around the top and bottom rings
  • Replace the vertical rope.  Leave 12 feet minimum for diamonds.
  • Tune to the low side of playable pitch, so you can "crank it" if you want to.
  •  I only put a few diamonds in the bottom row so there's always room for more to be added.

here are some of the steps in the overhaul, re-heading process

Top ring wrapped with new cloth, and tied with new cradle-knot rope. You'll get 28 - 33 knots, for 56 - 66 verticals depending on the size of your drum.

Threading verticals through the top and bottom rings - working upside down at this point.

Sangban getting a new head. Mounting one head at a time, while using a "dummy" plate at the other end allows each head to be set individually, assuring that each end will be level and parallel to the end of the drum.

Pictures above and below are rings that I've taken off of drums that have come in for repairs. THIS is why I plan on replacing the rings on many of the drums that come in.
