lenge shell carved in guinea - beautiful, full sound !
This is a beautiful, full-sounding drum, made from a Lenge shell carved in Guinea, and skinned with medium-thick Goat. Beautiful, effortless sound, but it's a heavy-weight. Plan to play it seated, or be ready to bear the weight if you use a standup strap.

large-bowl jembe from mali - work in progress
This is a professional qualify big-bowl "Jena" jembe originally purchased from Jeremy Chevrier at Rootsy Records / Jembe Hotel in Bamako, Mali. It's getting a complete overhaul including shell re-conditioning, new rings and rope, and a new skin. The light vertical streaks in the trumpet are mineral deposits in the wood, and have never developed any cracks. This one will be done within the next 2 weeks. It's priced to move at $320.00. It's being reconditioned and sold at a great price so it will have a home where it's played and appreciated.

Two more Lenge shells, carved in Guinea. These will become drums sometime before Spring 2012. I can get right to work on one of them if you are interested in having one. You can reserve one now and have your choice of skin type and thickness, rope color, style of cloth-wrap on rings, hide trimmed or rolled over the top ring, etc.
These will be priced at $380.00, with basic black or black-purple rope. There's extra cost for custom rope or special skins such as cow or calf. Let's talk!
